The Spanish Foreign Language ELEX research group is registered in the DIN Research Directorate of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia, in its SGI Research Management System and is registered in Colciencias in Category C.

From 2003 to 2018, the group was coordinated by Professor Myriam Waked Hernández, actually, Professor J. Humberto Motta Ávila coordinates it. It is made up of co-researcher professors Bernardino Rodríguez P., Pedro Cárdenas F., Alberto Ramírez A., and Julián Rico C., and by the students in training Carlos Quintero M., Paula Navarro A., Camila Soto G., Laura Guaque C ., Marcel Fernandez V., Wilson Rojas M., and Santiago Rojas C.

Among the founders of the group are co-researcger professors María del Carmen Ussa A. and Doris Velandia M .; subsequently, co-researchers and students in training were linked, such as Leonardo Galeano M., Andrés Parra F. and Juliana Laverde G.

The productivity of the group is recognized for the variety of presentations at seminars, congresses, ELE meetings, both national and international. Likewise, for the articles published in Colciencias indexed journals, thesis direction, book publications at different levels of competence and research projects.

The ELEX group has as its mission the teaching-learning of Spanish for foreigners through the use of various didactics and technologies, in order to project Colombian culture, its values and its history internationally.

It undertakes to carry out research projects in the area of study, publications, participation in scientific events, offering courses and formal programs of professionalization of the Spanish language for foreigners

The ELEX group will contribute to the global society the knowledge of the Spanish language, based on Colombian culture, taking into account the international interaction related to Spanish, so that research of a pedagogical, linguistic, pragmatic and communicative nature is projected to allow fortify the positioning of Spanish internationally.
